Asking for a friend.... If you dropped the lid of a tube of antiseptic cream (like germolene) down the toilet would you:
A) wash it with bathroom cleaner, dry and put back on.
B) Throw the lid and nearly full tube.
C) Try to fashion a covering from cling film. Or maybe sellotape (would that work?).

Wash it and use it

mynameiscalypso · 04/01/2025 21:18

Was there anything other than water in the loo at the time? Assuming not, A, for sure.

I'd wash it.

You do know toilets use drinking water don't you?

Just give it a wash, dry it, put it back on and put it away OP

A
from someone who ( cough , had a friend who ) dropped an AirPod down a loo that was being cleaned , so stuck a marigold clad hand into the bleachy water , rinsed it under the hot tap , dried it on her husbands towel and stuck it back in her ear

goodnessidontknow · 04/01/2025 21:20

Wash it then if I was still worried drop it on some Milton before putting it back on.

Brunetteshel · 04/01/2025 21:26

Throw it away
pop open tube in sealed food bag

MassiveSalad22 · 04/01/2025 21:28

A assuming toilet only had water in it.

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 04/01/2025 21:30

Throw it away tbh

Some of the tubes in my bathroom don't have lids as I have a habit of misplacing them

DaisyChain505 · 04/01/2025 21:32

Only if the toilet was flushed and empty I would fish it out, pop it in Milton or something and then use it.

eyestosee · 04/01/2025 21:34

Dettol water- or equivalent. Disinfect and rinse. Or soak in boiling water. And re use.🙂

RachelCarew · 04/01/2025 21:35

If the toilet was clean/flushed, I would rinse it, put it in a jar, boil the kettle and cover it with boiling water for a few minutes before drying it/using it.

ilovepixie · 04/01/2025 21:37

I've dropped my glasses down the toilet before. I was cleaning the toilet and they fell in. I just fished them out and washed them under the tap!

KnittedCardi · 04/01/2025 21:45

Wash with hot soapy water. Out back in tube. Job done.

JohnTheRevelator · 04/01/2025 21:58

Wash it and use it. As long as the toilet was clean and flushed, not full of shit!

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 04/01/2025 22:01

Id wash it with boiling water not bathroom cleaner. Or use clingfilm to make a new lid.

Nollybolly6 · 04/01/2025 22:01

A

coldcallerbaiter · 04/01/2025 22:02

C

smallsilvercloud · 04/01/2025 22:02

C I'd Chuck it away and try to save the tube. There still bacteria in the toilet even when flushed and I'd not risk after washing it.

polpolpolpol · 04/01/2025 22:11

I would bin it and put the tube in a food bag
