Private health care insurance

I've got a suspicious mole I'm worried about. I had made an appointment with my NHs GP to get this particular mole checked out a few months ago, but was not able to attend the appointment. Life got a bit crazy and I completely forgot to make a new appointment.

'Ve never had private coverage before, but will be eligible for private healthcare in a few weeks through work. If I requested to see a dermatologist about my mole (along with some acne issues on my face), would my private healthcare coverage request be denied for the mole because I'd tried to make a prior NHS GP appointment about it before?

If so, could I request a general overall mole check on my body to rule out any potential skin cancer issues and be covered that way?

It depends on whether your policy has you fully medically underwritten or not. If you are, then it's pre existing and won't be covered. If there's no underwriting, as in medical history disregarded, then yes, it should be covered.

Just to add, mole mapping can be done as part of a health screening if that is part of the policy. There may be a waiting period for you to access this bit.

A mole that is causing concern would be classed as acute, not health screening.
