Progesterone and port - I AM OFF MY TITS

Anyone else experienced this?

I'm newly on HRT, and toom my 100mg micronised progesterone already. Had a very small port 45 mins later. My GOD I feel so pissed. Really out of it. It's not unpleasant, but wtf? Is this normally?

Yeah I sometimes have this. Helps me get to sleep which is a bonus, but you've got to time it carefully if you're affected (and need to drive, for example). Try it without the port chaser tomorrow to check how much it affects you on its own.

I had to switch from two a night (the two weeks on then two weeks off approach) to one every night because I was properly sedated if I took two. Especially if I took it on a full stomach, oddly.

Yup, I think eating or drinking increases the side effects. I imagine alcohol just gives you a double whammy!

I'm supposed to take 200mg nightly but I work 2 nightshifts a week and can only take 100mgs those nights......or else I get dizzy, fall over and have a nap!😆

When I was on egg freezing medication I literally felt HIGH I was that horny. It was intense. I remember lying in Green Park on a hot day and feeling the hormones whizzing around and actually panting from the feeling.

I don't think our natural hormones were meant to be messed with. 😂

So glad you posted this. Had exactly the same thing tonight. Poured a glass of champagne 90m after taking mine tonight and two mouthfuls in thought I’d been spiked.

I look forward to this on my progesterone days and deliberately eat before taking it. The sleeps are tremendous. Alcohol does strengthen the effect too, I find.

I stopped taking it because even on an empty stomach at bedtime, I'd be in the most horrible deep and dreamless sleep and then feel drugged the next day. Eugh. Not for me.

I only sleep 6 or 7hrs a night though so maybe if I had 8 or 9 I'd have been OK.

I never noticed a correlation between drinking and them but I did find the first two or three months I took them (for two weeks at a time) I was absolutely knackered within an hour of taking them and needed my bed.

It's bonkers, isn't it? We will at least be very cheap dates now....

Thank you all for responding to this. Was good to know it was within realms of normal. It was quite an amazing effect - I must have had no more than a unit of alcohol and I felt drugged. I have a cold today, so perhaps was also brewing that.

I randomly had a small tot of port today after taking my progesterone, then remembered this thread! Am feeling drugged so I'm in bed and putting a calm podcast on and can guarantee I won't remember a word off it. Night! 😁
