General anaesthetic with cough

I’m scheduled to have surgical management of a missed miscarriage at 8 weeks under GA first thing tomorrow. Was a very wanted first pregnancy so am obviously very distressed and want it to be over as soon as possible.

In the three days between the scan that confirmed the MMC and the op I’ve developed a persistent cough (mostly in the throat but occasionally a bit chesty) and largely lost my voice. I’m asthmatic but am not having asthma symptoms (i.e. no shortness of breath, cough isn’t relieved by blue inhaler).

I know the anaesthetist will review and decide if it’s safe to go ahead tomorrow. I guess my questions are if anybody knows from experience/professionally:

• is it likely that the op will be cancelled?
• if it is, is it likely they’ll be able to rearrange relatively quickly? I chose surgical management as I very much don’t want to go through a natural miscarriage at home, so obviously the longer we wait the more likely that is to happen.

Thanks in advance for any help/advice/experience - I’m feeling quite fragile at the moment.

I can’t say about the cough but I had it with local and it was over within 5 minutes and I felt physically fine afterwards. I’m sorry for your loss.

Bumping for you as I don't know the answer, only that mine was quick and I had a heavy normal feeling (cramps etc) period after for a full week.

I'm sorry for your loss. Flowers
