What's the damage? (Weight related)

I stood on the scales this morning and was surprised that I was only up 0.5kg from Christmas Eve. This seems disproportionate to the amount of food I've consumed this week but I have still kept up with exercise because I enjoy it.

If you weigh yourself regularly, what's your Christmas impact been?

Food poisoning so lost 2kg.

Fantina · 02/01/2025 15:00

2lbs on and that’s with a lot of abstinence

LadyTable · 02/01/2025 15:01

No impact, although to be fair there rarely is.

I tend to eat differently but I don't think I eat any more than usual really?

Well I don't think I do anyway, although come to think of it I'm not sure.

No idea why I answered this thread really 😳😂

DownThePubWithStevieNicks · 02/01/2025 15:02

I’ve maintained, which I was a bit surprised about but on reflection I probably haven’t overeaten particularly this year for whatever reason.

I think 0.5kg amounts to about 3500 extra calories, or around 500 extra a day for a week. Which probably would feel like a lot extra for most people.

GetyourheadoutoftheovenIris · 02/01/2025 15:05

From the 12th until today 5.5lbs which is disgusting tbh! I enjoyed it and am usually I’m quite restricted so went wild. 😬

DrRichardWebber · 02/01/2025 15:25

4lbs up. But I did go completely crazy and eat everything I wouldn’t normally, and did zero exercise. So I deserve it really!

worriedgal · 02/01/2025 15:28

I've lost 4lb but been ill since Christmas Eve!

Randomontheinternet25 · 02/01/2025 16:04

9lb off. But I don't see Xmas as a time to eat cheese footballs /quality street etc

MaMoosie · 02/01/2025 16:05

Lost 4kg. Norovirus.

DorianMeile · 02/01/2025 16:31

Just stayed the same, but I only eat loads on Christmas day and boxing day then return to normal.

Interesting to see the range of numbers here.

I love food and leaning into our family traditions around particular meals or seasonal foods. It brings me joy.

Sorry to the posters who've been poorly.

Sorry I thought it was over Xmas! Not a week.
A friend has put on 10 lb over Xmas! They buy all the Xmas shaped food and general crap and every year they are surprised they put on weight!

thebear1 · 02/01/2025 16:35

3lb on, which I expected as had several 2 course meals plus chocolate etc. However with a bmi of 27 I already need to lose weight so it's not good.

KohlaParasaurus · 02/01/2025 16:40

No real change. I've eaten differently, but not much more than usual.

klimtchakra · 02/01/2025 16:43

Nothing extra since Xmas eve but 6lbs over the whole of Nov/December. I don't care and wasn't surprised! I've eaten my weight in cheese, chocolates and pudding and I loved every minute of being a little bit of a pig! Absolutely shovelled it in! I lost my mum the previous Christmas and she was the one who made Christmas special so it's my way of coping I suppose. I will be attempting to loose several stone this year now though.

Turningthingsaround · 02/01/2025 16:44

I've put on 3lbs but it feels like much more. I feel so heavy. Back to better eating today so it'll soon come off. I've lost 2 stone since October so 3lbs is not a huge deal but it's reminded me how awful I feel when I'm eating lots of rubbish. Back to it.

I'm sorry for your loss of your mum. I'm glad you enjoyed your indulgence.
We lost my lovely FIL this Christmas, so it was all a bit sad and different this year.
