For me, the best;

a Crimpit off MIL. Ive basically lived off toasties since Boxing Day.

Also we got 11yo DD a heated throw and have all been taking it in turns to steal it 🤣 I’ve ordered my own because it’s so nice!

Worst present: I asked DH to get me some nice comfortable underwear that is comfy and not hideous. He bought me some Bench knickers. They appeared to be nice at first but on putting them on, apparently Bench think that women’s vulva must be about 2cm long. Had to throw them in the bin!

They’ve all been lovely. Lots of books, a new phone, an expensive piece of sports equipment I wanted.
the only thing I won’t use is a very large toy~type key ring, but I will use it as an Xmas dec in future years and it was purchased with good intentions - I’m forever losing my keys!

Sorry, OP, I had to giggle at your knickers. 😂 I hope you find some comfy ones. I'm an M&S girl through and through, and the bigger the better. I hate underwear but I love a warm bum!

My favourite was a locket DH bought me. It has a personalised engraving on the back from a show we love (the brass hare from Inside No. 9), a photo of the DC, and locks of their hair.

For the worst? It wasn't bad, but twee from a school mum. This wall hanging that was really maudlin. It was well intentioned though, and I'll put it up whenever she drops in for lunch.

Best - a freddo from DS2 (7yrs, autistic), he made his big brother take him to the shop so he could spend his tooth fairy money on me😊
Worst - the pink shoes from DM or noro

Absolute worst - DS2 got a bag of temu crap from exDH and ex-in-laws (including a cushion cover, adult socks and a single cookie cutter) while he got to watch his siblings open >£300 of Lego each 😡

Aww love the Freddo! 🥰

Sorry your DS was treated poorly by your ex.

Nowt wrong with sherry! You could go all 90s and have it with ice and lemonade. Fab! 😊

I've been trying to find a cocktail to try it with. It's a small batch artisan, I think maybe trying to revive it and make it fashionable again.

princesspadam · 01/01/2025 14:07

Best;

Loop earplugs from DS1 to stop me being so irritated by people

Worst:
Family planner for the year, also from DS1 too long and not wide enough for all of us

Rainbow450 · 01/01/2025 14:41

Best - ticket to ride and trekking the world board games

Worst - a book token from mil, saying happy birthday and the card had been completed already and was to her from someone else so she offloaded it on me 🙃

Topsy44 · 01/01/2025 16:08

Best - a lovely personalised tree decoration from my Secret Santa at work (a lovely surprise as they’re usually not great)

Worst - a box of chocolates from work from a one off supplier -really sickly sweet and cheap chocolate!!

Best - An Agatha Christie book I'd never read or even heard of. Love!

Worst - Mouldy lush gift set from a good friend. Obviously it's a regift or it fell off a lorry! She's saving up for a big holiday but still...and she made specific requests to me about what I should buy her and all her family. It's that fact that stings as it feels unfair! And I can't say anything because she's very sensitive.

Please please tell me what book it was. l am such a huge fan of hers l can't bear the thought that l have missed one of her books 😞

Best - spending some quality time with DH and laughing together a lot

Worst - no gifts (agreed in advance with DH but still a bit glum, usually get things from my DM and DF (I gave them gifts). Cold grey weather days, so depressing.

You absolutely can and should say something - even if it's 'Let's not bother exchanging gifts next year'
She's not 'sensitive', she's a massive cheeky fucker.

The book is 'The Hollow'. Really enjoying it. It's new to me and my idea of a great read!

I can't wait until her holiday is over and paid for. The regift is a tip of penny saving activities that actually mean penny spending for her friends. And when I say mouldy, I mean mouldy. It was practically a new species.
