What was your best part of 2024?

2024 was horrific for me.
My beloved mum died and I had an awful year in a toxic toxic job.

However, seeing my son blossom and grow this year has been amazing.
My favourite highlight was spending time with him swimming and seeing how water confident he has become as well as hosting his first friends birthday party and seeing him in his extroverted social element being such a little rockstar.

So let me know yours and hopefully we can get a thread of feel-good accounts and memories.

The few occasions I was able to swim in the sea (we holiday in the UK and don't live anywhere near the sea, so for this to happen has to be a 'stars aligning' occasion of weather being OK and being able to get to the sea!). It's one of the few times I feel completely contented, as if there is nowhere else I would rather be.

I'm so sorry for your loss OP, but it's great that your son is doing so well, you must be very proud of him!

Having my first grandchild! Walking into the room to see her knowing I was going to fall in love. A very strange sensation! She's absolutely gorgeous and I love her to bits. Everything else this year pales into comparison.

Sorry about your mum OP.
My best bits
Fab family holiday
DD17 getting a 8 in GCSE Art after being out of school for years.
Finally going on a Hot Air balloon flight after numerous cancellations over past 2 years due to weather conditions.
Just had a relaxing family Christmas with no arguements

Sorry about your Mum and job but so lovely to be able to say that about your lovely son.

2024 was a very good year here - Started with an offer from Oxford University for DD and she started there in October and loves it.
DD and I went to Borneo together the day of her last A levels and saw lots of wildlife like orangutans, proboscis monkeys, pygmy elephants, crocodiles, birds.
I got a new dream job working in a specialist role in a very remote island and love it so far.
3 years clear of cancer and had last operation which was cosmetic, was a week in hospital but given own room and had view of air ambulance and its so nice to have both breasts again. Been waiting 2.5 years for that operation on NHS.

Hearing the words, "The cancer has gone". I had to have a bone marrow transplant after that but knowing i was cancer free was a huge boost especially as I have had the same cancer twice.

Sorry about your mum OP Flowers

I married my best friend in sept. It's my second marriage but he's shown me how it's meant to be and he really is my person

DAndreBarksdale · 01/01/2025 01:24

Marrying the love of my life in New York and spending our wedding night in The Plaza.
Taking my daughter to Disney.
I spent many years as a skint single parent.

2024 wasn't great in many ways, but we got a German Shepherd puppy and I love her dearly! She's keeping me very busy and is definitely the highlight of the year😍

I'm sorry about you mum, OP. I lost someone this year as well. Grief has a weird way of making time go by both fast and slow, doesn't it?

DramaAlpaca · 01/01/2025 03:20

Getting a great new job at almost 60 was the highlight of 2024.

The rest of it I'd rather forget.
