Anyone else hate NYE?

I hate it with a passion and just want to go to bed. I'm 44 and way past my best years!! Without my sons again (14 and 17) but have been for over a decade so you think I'd be used to it by now!
Anyone else feel similar about today?
I suppose wine helps!

I hate it too.
I have severe anxiety, and all I can think about is, what problems will this new year bring? How will I cope?
2024 was a complete shitter of a year, I simply can't get excited about what may happen next year, because it's never anything good, that's for sure Sad

The one from abroad: it was the bigger celebration than the Christmas while growing up due to communism. Loved it. Now since here, it is Christmas.
Quiet family time with food etc. Do not mind it but always praying for good things in the New one.

Me. I'm in bed already with my phone and my book. I'm not a drinker or a party person, and new year's eve makes me feel maudlin and low, so I just pretend it isn't happening. Tomorrow is just another day.

I do now, it’s always been significant for me because it’s the anniversary of a turning point in my life and it’s something they I would love to mark. Not going out drinking etc but ‘doing’ something.

Sadly the people around me don’t like it and aren’t interested in doing anything so I now find it one of the most depressing days of the year. I always end up feeling quite disappointed and alone. Usually end up falling asleep on the sofa

I'm not up for staying up for the bells but I will have an early night then wake up early to go for a walk and see the first sunrise of the new year.

Looking at the list on active convos, no, you're not the only one to hate nye.

Hogmanay can fuck off.
Can't be arsed with all the whas like us tartan shite.
Just gives arseholes an excuse to be bigger arseholes.

Yes, my poor rescue cat suffers with the fireworks. I've given her a zylkene and some gabapentin and put a Mozart cd on for her to try and help her get through it. I wish people would just stfu. I'm praying it pisses it down with rain as it's forecast. NYE is boring and stupid. It's just another date.

I never get FOMO except on New Years Eve. I suppose it's because we've nearly always done something on NYE, up until fairly recently. We had a nice phase of spending it with old Univeristy friends, but now we all live far and wide and no one can be arsed with the cost of getting taxis to and fro. We have some really good local friends, but see them all the time anyway, so don't want to do it all again on NYE.

In recent years DH and I have taken to going to the cinema for an early evening show and then coming home for a nice steak and chips dinner ... but this year we couldn't even find a film we wanted to see!

We had a drink with our DS and DD and her boyfriend before they went out, then watched Black Doves and I just couldn't stop yawning at about 10.30 and went to bed! Makes me feel old and boring.
