New year new start - no it's not

It's the middle of winter and the arse end of the year. It's unnatural to start new stuff when we should still be hibernating (not literally of course, but slowing down). And starting diets and gym regimes, just no!

Everything is renewed and springs to life in, well, spring. Hence spring cleaning I guess.

New Year is just an administrative thing. And a good excuse for a night out.

Oh dear...whose parade are you going to rain on tonight?

Nobody's. It's my view. Not forcing it on anyone!

Oh no, I don’t agree.
The days are getting longer we are on a one way track to spring it is time for chitting potatoes and soon to get them in the ground.
Its the perfect time for a new start for the year ahead.

So no point asking about your resolutions then?Grin

Optigan · 31/12/2024 19:28

I think resolutions have more chance of success if you start them at a point you feel motivated. New Year is a good time for some to start healthy eating, for example, as they've had their fill of rich food. But others might prefer summer, when lighter food is more appetising.

I think it’s a fresh start but I think you can also restart any day of the year.

None! I don't make any. I just make changes when needed.

I have always felt more inclined to start new things in autumn. I think it's a throwback from starting a new school term then. I left school 50 years ago but still remember the excitement, new uniform, pencil case etc.
