Hey everyone need some advice as a first time mum dealing with this

My sons is 4 I decided to give him the flu nasal spray as I heard many stories of how dangerous the flu can be anyway

He's not doing so well from the day he received it he's been very lethargic , not eating not interested in playing even watching his favourite cartoon shows he doesn't even want to move out the bed and he's a very active child he's been falling asleep throughout the whole day as I mean when he wakes up he's up for about an hour then he's falling asleep again

His temperature was quite high to 39c only now it's getting controlled no medicine was brining it down his heart was also beating a little fast but doctors said this was bec of the temperature. took him to the doctors today they said it's probably side effects but can it be this bad I'm so worried about him he's non verbal so can't ask him really how he's feeling just really regret my decision 😪

The doctors even prescribed antibiotics just in case the fever is not being controlled by tomorrow

Any similar experiences ???

or…. the nasal spray didn’t work and he’s poorly because it was already in his system

melmel78 · 31/12/2024 18:27

@ForOliveOP could you explain if it didn't work why would he be poorly from it ?

The flu spray vaccine can cause very mild flu symptoms, which is what your DS is showing. It’d nothing to worry about.

melmel78 · 31/12/2024 18:32

@ForOliveOP well the doctors did say it's a live nasal spray so maybe he's getting some symptoms of the flu

Don’t worry, it’s way better than having the flu and his symptoms sound 100% normal. The older he gets, the milder the symptoms will be because his body will build up immunity.

Just, for your information, if your DS is ever diagnosed with asthma, he should have the flu jab instead of the nasal flu spray.
