I have dark hair that needs colouring every 5/6 weeks due to greys
I have a full colour, then the next time just my roots done and so one
I've had problems with the colour fading at the roots not long after it's been done for a while, mentioned it to my hairdresser and we used a darker root colour
Seemt ok the first time but this time the colour had hardly taken at all
It's covered my greys but the top of my hair is a different colour to my ends
I look after it, use salon products and olaplex and heat protection
I've always had lovely shiny dark hair but it's starting to look like I half heartily box dye it and not spend either 60 or 50 a month on it
Any recommendations?

You could just embrace the grey?

Could be build up of colour at the ends?

Hi

The solution is definitely not to just use a darker colour.

Some quick ideas from the top of my head;
• Pre soften the root area with Liquid Peroxide, dry in and then apply the root colour as normal.
• Make sure the colour is mixed perfectly to the ml or g as even a small difference can change how the colour takes.
• Make sure the colour is timed after application, surprising how many stylists just guess what 30/35 minutes should feel like.
• Use neat, unmixed colourant in the same method as bullet point one.

I would be very surprised to see the colour not take perfectly if all of these steps are followed also.

Also - try another colour house? Wella/L'oreal for example I have never had a problem with.

You could just embrace the grey?

She didn't ask that though, did she?
