Anyone else having a crap NYE?

Single mum with two young dc. Ds1 had an awful bug the last few days and is thankfully feeling better. However ds2 has now sadly caught it and I’ve got a throbbing sinus infection. I’ve barely slept the past few nights and have woken up with an outbreak of mouth ulcers. Counting down the hours until bedtime that’s if I get any sleep.

Feeling miserable hearing about my friends and family members plans for this evening. I’ve spent nye alone the past few years once the dc have went to bed. Meanwhile XH always seems have a wonderful one as he always goes away on holiday for it every year (IABU for being bitter I know!).

yep. all 3 kids have hand foot and mouth here. was going to have my parents over anyway but they’re arguing and have made me piggy in the middle so i’ve told them both not to bother now. feeling quite flat

I'm going to be alone, just me and the dog. Ds is away with his gf, dd2 is out with boyfriend, dh I s on call as a Gp tonight. I'm feeling rotten as I'm waiting for an appointment to get my psych meds upped (GP won't do it, got to see psychiatrist on 6th Jan). Dog is going to go mental with fireworks at midnight, FIL is on end of life care since Boxing Day but still hanging on. Kitchen is a tip.

Luckily dh home in the morning.

We've booked to see the latest Lion King movie just me and the kids. I started with a stomach bug. I then noticed an eyelash was irritating me, upon removal I've managed to scratch my eye.
Roll on 2025...

In work at 6am tomorrow so bed for 9 tonight. Till the fireworks wake me up.

I feel down tonight but not because of NYE.

@LoudPlumDog im so very sorry about your lovely daughter - you must be a very strong woman to still be here giving other people support. I hope 2025 gives you some peace and keeps your precious memories of her strong and able to provide comfort.

@Beeloux why is your exDH out partying every year and not doing his fair share of managing the kids (assume he is their father?) If he is then next year get him actually parenting and hopefully you will be well and able to go out and party!

As for this year, it’s just a day. Nothing more and nothing less. Hold your babies, dose yourself up with meds and know that you are a wonderful mum, next year is wide open with promise and hope and you can grasp it with both hands.

Hold on folks, it's one night and a blank page in the calendar is coming.

Yep, my plans for this evening were to watch a movie with DC at 6pm, cook some party stuff for a picky tea, watch a second movie, see in the New Year then we all go to bed.

DP has shut himself in the office gaming and texting. Says he'll come out to watch a film later when the food is ready, then he wants to watch Jools Annual Hootenanny which I can't stand.

DC are arguing and bickering because they don't want to watch a movie or eat without DP. Roll on midnight!
