Just before Christmas I felt I was coming down with something - tired, grumpy and not feeling myself. Woke up Boxing Day to a horrible cough. Next day banging headache and feeling rough. Same day after but with phlegm. I couldn’t sleep as so rough. By Saturday I had a chest infection. Went to GP and got antibiotics and steroids.

my chest infection feels like it’s getting better. Sleeping now. But i have a sore throat now and lost my voice. Dry cough now, but coughing up chunks of grotty stuff. It’s now been nearly a week. i really do t want to go out tonight. plus my partner who I don’t live with has the same illness and wants to be alone to get better.

how can I get rid of this virus quicker. It’s awful and not felt this ill for ages.

Rest, paracetamol, fluids. Vitamin c and let it take its course

Rest was the only way for me. The steroids are horrid but work. Small light meals and loads of orange juice was all I could stomach. Paracetamol and codeine for the head. My sympathy as it's rotten

How long did it last. DP and me are sat on the sofa feeling very sorry for ourselves

I’ve got this. It’s awful! It seems to be making it way around.

im currently on day 9 but I am 38 weeks pregnant so I have a feeling it will linger (and I can’t take much annoyingly). DH’s went away after 6 days, still has a cough but feels fine!

Test. I've been in bed since Christmas Eve. Hopefully will make it out of bed tomorrow.

Came down with the cough on the Saturday before Christmas. Still not well. Better, but if I move suddenly I start coughing and/or feel dizzy. I’m fine if I sit and do nothing, but as soon as I try and do anything, it hits. Totally fed up.

My Mum's residential home has what sounds like this, it's been diagnosed as Influenzer A . My Mum had the flu vaccine and we did and we are ok but an awful lot of the residents are so poorly bless them .
They are giving the residents ,expectorant cough syrup, Paracetamol, Ibuprofen, steroid and Ventolin inhalers , extra fluids , rest and rehydration sachets .
Sone are having antibiotics too .
Hope you feel better soon OP.

I’m in my 3rd week of it. Started as flu symptoms, got slightly better and then a raging throat infection. That’s getting better but I’m left with a cough and cold symptoms. It’s rubbish. DH got it and was ill for about 3 days and is fine now. I’m taking it as a sign that I need to start looking after my health a bit better in the new year.
You have my sympathies though, it’s awful. Hope you get better soon.
