Ideas for a new interest in 2025

I’m after ideas for a new interest or interests I can start in 2025.
Something for me.
Something I can focus on.

Open to anything. What do you like doing?
TIA 😊

Playing tennis. Probably not the best time of year at the moment, but a lot of clubs have coaching sessions for adult beginners (where you just pay for the coaching and don't have to join the club).

Journalling! I started with a self-care journal with prompts that got me to reflect on different things, but I’m going to move onto a plain dotted journal and be more freestyle. Its very therapeutic and helps me to realise how happy I am with little things, but is also a place for me to get out any anxiety or frustration I might feel.

there are many videos on TikTok to get inspiration on different things you can record, and I also include photos and stickers

Write down a note every time something good happens in 2025, fold it up and put it in a jar. Read it this time next year.

Learn to sew?

Needanewname42 · 29/12/2024 01:42

Are you looking for something to do at home?

Any sort of needle craft, knitting, cross stitch, crochet?
I quite enjoy cross stitch.

Learn to play an instrument, piano, guitar I dabble in both. Mainly using online lessons

If your looking for something to get you out any sort of group, choirs seem to be quite social, any sports, volunteering with youth groups, Scouts, Guides

Drawing and painting.

AutoP1lot · 29/12/2024 01:45

I'm having 1:1 swimming lessons (I could already swim but badly. Now I can whizz up and down underwater).

I do pilates.

I'm in a book club.

I'm a music geek. I try and listen to at least one full album a day. I go to a lot of gigs & festivals.

For 2025 I want to learn a musical instrument and start cold water swimming.

Started to learn bridge and finding it a real challenge but also fun. Random selection of people also learning but that's part of the pleasure. Have also tried salsa/bachata classes at various times and enjoyed those throughly so can recommend as an activity. Have found other learners very friendly and had lots of laughs and no need for a partner.

I came to say this. :) I have a Happy Planner for a bit more structure (dates and boxes), but use lots of stickers, paper and washi tape to decorate.

I bought myself a Cricut Joy machine last year when I was feeling down and felt like I had no hobby or interests. Have a look into it. It can however, be an expensive hobby!

I’ve woken up to some great ideas thanks ☺️

I already exercise loads, that’s my default if I have any spare time, and I do belong to a Book Group/Read.

Definitely up for trying journaling but unsure where to start and always seem to fail at keeping a diary, but maybe journaling would be different. I think something crafty, I do have a sewing machine that I could dust off. Painting and drawing also possible.

Yes, ideally something I can do at home, or maybe attend a class once a week and continue at home iyswim

Learn a language or art class.

TinkerTiger · 29/12/2024 12:58

@onefootinfrontoftheotherbabe Clever Fox has a range of journals with prompts to get you going.

If you use TikTok, searching ‘bullet journalling’ can also give you ideas for how to be more freestyle with it.

As you mentioned crafting, also search ‘junk journaling’, it’s a mix of writing and scrapbooking.

I follow this woman on TikTok, love her journaling content.

Thank you. I don’t do TikTok but will take a look at Clever Fox

Crochet.

AudiobookListener · 29/12/2024 18:45

Online adult ballet.
Learn a language.
Learn an instrument. Some like recorder or ukulele can be started really cheaply but you can still play jazz, classical, whatever and do grades.
Make your savings work harder by researching sensible investments.
Keep a nature sketchbook/notebook.
Redecorate.

onefootinfrontoftheotherbabe · 29/12/2024 20:54

I’m not musical at all, have never mastered languages but maybe now would be a good time to learn with all the online resources available.

I love the idea of a sketch book.

I’m gravitating towards sewing as I could do this whilst the footie is on. I also love a jigsaw!
