I went back to work yesterday after two days off for the Christmas. Just to be forced into working late and not only that just don't fucking finish at all, at all. It was 3 pm in the middle of the night when I was allowed a bed to lie until 9 am but it was broken sleep. I wasn't even afford the dignity or the respect to forewarn me and allow me an overnight bag. I had no change of clothes, no toothbrush, no comb.

And you would think after working all day and staying overnight and working this morning i would be allowed to go home. By noon or 1pm. Just go home. Just finish my job and go home. But nope. I am still stuck in work.

I am in the bathrooms crying and thinking that I have to kill myself or someone else just to go and get a break.

All because my supervisors and managers and bosses spent all fucking night partying it up and I had to pick up the fucking god damn slack from them. They spent all morning talking about their night before instead of allowing me some dignity and respect just to go home. If I had a period it would be like - though luck bad cunt wear your fucking pad for days on end.

I work for fucking scum.

To treat me like this. It's so inhumane.

What do you do? Those working conditions sound horrific!

BlondieDH · 28/12/2024 13:31

Id just leave.

Helpless99 · 28/12/2024 13:33

What do you do???

topcat2014 · 28/12/2024 13:33

In the UK? Sounds awful

Branleuse · 28/12/2024 13:34

Care industry?

TizerorFizz · 28/12/2024 13:36

There’s loads of jobs going. Surely there’s something else? Or get qualifications if you need them to advance. You are obviously in the wrong place for you if you dislike those around you.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 28/12/2024 13:37

UK gov site says that workers in the UK have the right to a gap of 11 hours between finishing one shift and starting the next.

pikkumyy77 · 28/12/2024 13:38

Yikes! Just walk.

MissyB1 · 28/12/2024 13:40

You have to leave. Also inform them now that you have worked over the legal limit of hours for one day. Start seriously job hunting.

Colourbrain · 28/12/2024 13:41

You work in care. I have been you. I once spent 48 hours at work, desperate to leave but I couldn't leave the service user as no other staff could get in. It was a fucking joke. I wanted to do my job well but was just used the whole time. I hope you find another job.

Growsomeballswoman · 28/12/2024 13:42

Have you posted about this before?

slightlydistrac · 28/12/2024 14:20

Making you work that length of time without proper breaks is illegal. Report them to whoever the regulatory body is.

fuzzychic · 28/12/2024 14:21

Oh my goodness that's awful. Can you find alternative employment?

Quitelikeit · 28/12/2024 14:23

God just go home

Quitelikeit · 28/12/2024 14:23

And report these so called managers!

FuckItItsFine · 28/12/2024 14:23

That is awful. They are taking advantage of you and they are breaking the law.

FreeMilkshakesForYou · 28/12/2024 14:26

Is it hospitality by any chance? I have worked for some total scumbags in hospitality! Just leave. Do you have anyone there you can ask for a reference?

OfMiceandWomen · 28/12/2024 14:26

Quitelikeit · 28/12/2024 14:23

God just go home

She might be care home or something similar it would be very difficult just to walk out and leave if there where people depending on her.

QuestionableMouse · 28/12/2024 14:29

What do you do?

Christmassoxs · 28/12/2024 14:42

I would walk out regardless, my mental state would not allow me to do have of what you've done. Causes problems with the work place? Managers need to sort that out with staffing levels, better pay or they could just fuck off.
I feel sorry for the residents and the staff struggling with the shit show.

Yeah, this. There are maximum daily and weekly working hours in the UK.

fisht · 28/12/2024 15:00

Oh yes the care industry. We take the most vulnerable people in society and we treat the workers in that industry like utter shit. Been there op, you sound on the edge, go off sick and look for something else, please.

Maurepas · 28/12/2024 15:18

Well - here's hoping I never have to go into ''Care'' if this is it - very, very revealing and it costs a fortune if one has house or any assets!! Sound worse than third world ''care''.

TurtlesDoNotPetsMake · 28/12/2024 15:48

Definitely sounds like care! I've just done a 48hr shift (xmas day and boxing day) due to sickness, and nobody turning up. Not even worth leaving as they are all the same, plus the hassle of sorting your DBS and hours of training (unpaid). I feel your pain.
