Is there anything to watch this Christmas?

Apart from Gavin and Stacey, has there actually been anything decent to watch? Currently, in bed with flu and suffering with cabin fever. All there even seems to be us repeats or game shows. Why the hell is with game shows during prime time?

The film called That Christmas is very good

biscuitsandbooks · 27/12/2024 14:50

The new Wallace and Gromit was really good - it's on iPlayer.

Doggymummar · 27/12/2024 14:50

Outnumbered was dreadful, just watched that.

Get a free 7 day Apple subscription or pay for a month and binge Bad Sisters, Slow Horses, The Morning Show and the film Blitz.

Yeah, I have bloody netflix and prime. I was looking forward to watching the serial killers wife and then 10 minutes in realised I've seen it before as was on last year! I honestly do wonder why I bother paying for a TV licence 😭

The TV seems pretty poor this year. Gavin and Stacey and Wallace and Gromit excellent, enjoyed the Mark Gatiss thing on Xmas Eve, but can't get excited much about anything else Sad

Idontknowtheanswer · 27/12/2024 19:12

Wallace and Gromit is the only good thing on this year. Squid Games is back.

InWithThePlums · 27/12/2024 19:12

I love the Christmas quiz nights on bbc2 so we probably disagree on that Grin but Wallace and Gromit was excellent, best thing on imo. Agree not much else on normal tv worth bothering with.

Haven’t seen the ghost story for Christmas yet though, will watch tonight.

I was about to say this. We had a lot of grumpiness this Christmas but all sat down to watch this (it's called Vengeance Most Fowl) and all that was forgotten. It really made us laugh. I think it's their best film. Hope you feel better soon x

All creatures great and small was lovely.
Call the Midwife,
Bad Tidings , Strictly Christmas, Casualty and loads of films

DullTinsel · 27/12/2024 19:47

There's all the end of year things which are always easy watching like HIGNFY and the Big Fat Quiz Of The Year. Only Connect has a Xmas special, I think.

Agree with pay for a week/ month of Apple and watch Bad Sisters/ Loot/The Morning Show/ Ted Lasso/Slow Horses etc.

DullTinsel · 27/12/2024 19:48

We've also watched the Xmas episodes of Motherland, Here We Go, old Gavin and Stacey etc. Older members of the family like The Two Ronnies, Morcambe and Wise and to be honest I don't mind it!

hideawayforever · 27/12/2024 19:52

I loved "That Christmas"

Serencwtch · 27/12/2024 19:52

The Ink black heart was very good & better than the book.
All creatures great & small and call the midwife Xmas specials.

CharlotteCChapel · 27/12/2024 19:53

We've just spent the afternoon watching very interesting programmes on volcanoes.

Royal Institution Christmas Lectures

29-31 Dec on BBC 4 and iPlayer

The blurb says it's about the GI tract from tastebuds to toilet. And the lecturer is Chris Van Tulleken (Operation Ouch, and Ultra Processed People) and is likely to fringe on how your food affects your life and health.

Likely to be very watchable for all ages

Heelworkhero · 27/12/2024 19:58

I enjoyed Click and Collect with Stephen Merchant. On Amazon or Netflix - can’t remember now. It was a funny Xmas film!

AROCKUK · 30/12/2024 15:54

Bad tidings was good fun - kept attention of my 10 year old anyway
