Anyone else find these grey winter days relaxing?

I know some prefer winter to summer and I'm definitely one of them.
I like bright cold days and don't dislike summer.
I just feel so much less pressurised and relaxed in the winter and can't work out why.
What do people think ?

We're having a whole week of no rain here in London. I would love to see some sunshine, but it's dry so I'm not complaining!

I enjoy Winter too, though not a great fan of the rain

LoafofSellotape · 27/12/2024 09:34

Yes, me. Love autumn/ winter.

Spikeishere · 27/12/2024 09:37

I'm a summer person but I do like the stillness that cloudy grey days brings.

Boxingdaymusings · 27/12/2024 09:40

Love then! I'm an autumn/winter lover..

Theunamedcat · 27/12/2024 09:42

I'm currently busier than I've ever been in the summer so no not relaxing at all! This foggy weather is a total ball ache to drive in too people in silver cars with no lights on thinking we can see them

Ozgirl76 · 27/12/2024 09:42

I find it so dreary. I’m over here visiting from Aus and this cold damp weather just makes everything look so drab. Love a cold crisp day, I would happily have it much colder but with the sun out!

TiredEyesToday · 27/12/2024 09:48

Nah I’m up north and I hate the grey, flat days. The sky seems so low over the valley we live in on days like this, and it just seems so bleak and flat. I find it really depressing. We’ve got a whole week of it in the forecast- am thinking of heading to the coast where there’s a bit of sunshine at least.

orangewasp · 27/12/2024 09:52

I do, especially when I'm off work. I love the kind of light you get when night turns to day.

Moier · 27/12/2024 09:55

Gosh no.. it's depressing.. I'm taking Vit D..
Looking at getting some winter sun somewhere..

ParisGellerFTW · 27/12/2024 10:03

Yes, I love them. I wish it was colder, though. Bit miffed the temps rose over Christmas.

I really like feeling wrapped up and cosy. Aware that is (tiresomely) derided by a certain MN contingent, who'll be along with some cracks about "snuggling" and "hot choccy" post haste, no doubt 😉

TurkeyDinosaurs2 · 27/12/2024 10:05

Gives me a better excuse to sit about when it's like this. I always feel a bit guilty sat around being lazy when the sun's out, as if I should be going out or something.

whatwouldyoudoifisangoutofkey · 27/12/2024 10:47

Yeah I think that's it - it's easier not to feel guilty about sitting around reading .
I too wish it were colder though .
@TiredEyesToday that's a good point about locality as I totally get what you mean about low skies.
I'm in London and I do think where you are obviously affects the outlook.

And being wrapped up , easier for those of us who are not thin.
And easier than trying to keep cool - see also not thin.
