What are your New Years Eve plans?

This year is the first in a while we don't have any plans. So it'll probably be a night in just the two of us and DCat.

As much as I'd love to spontaneously head somewhere like London, my fiancé detests London as well as going out places on NYE as they're generally so manic and overpriced. Usually we go to our friends but they have a newborn this year so no parties this time.

I may do a charcuterie board but have eaten so much cheese already! So maybe I'll steal someone else's dinner idea!

It's a Tuesday night so, for me, I usually go out for a beer or three early evening then back home at about 10pm. Whisky then bedtime. I haven't 'done' a NYE since 1998. I was in bed before midnight 1999/2000! I hope you can find a more memorable way of spending your evening.

Friends coming over for afternoon tea then we will settle down and watch tv on our own. Personally, I’d like to go out for dinner and dancing but I’d have to find a different partner!

Early to bed as I'm working NYD.

Out for a meal late afternoon. Then me and DC chilling at home. Nothing I would rather do tbh

We'll have friends over (another couple), we always take turns hosting each other on NYE (and throughout the year). I am with your fiancé that London or being out in a busy city is my worst nightmare on NYE. It's cold, I hate crowds and standing around for hours waiting, and don't want to be around people throwing firecrackers or setting off their own fireworks, or make my way home on crowded tubes in the middle of the night. We have nice food, play games, watch the London fireworks on TV and toast the new year, then a brunch the next morning. I like my sleep but I always stay up until midnight on NYE.
Maybe get one of those cooking kits that come with ingredients for multiple courses plus drinks to turn it into more of a special occasion if you are over finger food and cheese boards?

We will be in Spain again and I'm hoping just as amazing as last year
The Spanish do NYE so well

There will be families out in the Main Street, from babies to grandparents, live music, pop up bars & street food

Party for 2 for me. BF is mixing on his decks 2pm onwards. I'll be dancing round his front room. Nice nibbles. Delicious bubbly.

Both looking posh.

First NYE I've "done" something for a while. Really looking forward to it.

Meal kit isn't a bad idea. Yeah I don't disagree on going out to a manic place. I like the idea of a country pub or something though but it's never that simple on new years.

Need to find something to watch or a new game though. Was ill for a solid week in the run up to Christmas so have basically completed Netflix at this point.

Sounds lovely. I've never done new years abroad but we keep saying we should! I really want to do it in Sydney one year.

Going to a spa in the afternoon and will either be home in the evening or going on a boat to watch the fireworks.

garlictwist · 26/12/2024 22:08

About ten of us going for a meal in a local restaurant then to pub. Might not stick it out until midnight, will see how tired I am. DH who loves NYE definitely will!
