Samsung S22 owners - i need your help!

I got a reconditioned S22 but I'm having trouble with the camera. I need to know if it is the phone generally or this particular one.

The reviews say that the camera is roughly equivalent to an iPhone 12 pro, we have one in the house so easy comparison. When I take photos it looks good on the screen but the finished version is blury. The focus field seems incredibly narrow (including on multi focus) and the definition is gone. I need good quality for photos of my dog! Included are some examples in the various settings, on the iphone you can clearly see the wrapping paper behind the toy as well as the main item. Help very appreciated.

I'm on an s23 but might be helpful, when I open the camera app, it says 12M across the top. If I tap on that, it changes to 50M and photos are much clearer, higher megapixels (she says with little idea of what she's talking about)
