We always have the kids open brand new pyjamas on Christmas Eve which they wear after a bath or shower

We never have everything done that we planned to do, we always buy too much food, Christmas dinner is usually ready about an hour later than planned.

We're slowly changing as my youngest is now 11 so not a believer (though she likes to pretend she is)

We play games on Xmas eve now. Did layout last night.

Used to have the elves bring a gift of something to do on Xmas eve eg dvd game sweets for a film etc. but for the first year have not done that!

Make reindeer good on Xmas eve and scatter it outside and put the magic key on the door. Did this year. The usual mince pie etc for Santa (he has whisky in our house) didn't do this year.

Stockings outside of bedrooms as youngest was terrified of Santa! When they all get up (not all up yet...teens!) they open stockings in our bed. Then we shower and get dressed and have breakfast before opening main presents. (Which we sort into piles the night before) We take it in turns to open. Santa brings one wrapped gift for each child. Low value, often the same as their sisters. This year it's slippers.

One night xmas week we do a lights drive round to see all the house lit up. Did that least night.

Kahoot! Not layout!

DH and the DCs decorate the tree while I watch with sparkling wine. I never ever put a single decoration on. (I like buying new ones though). I like sitting there and watching them and just chilling. They also take the tree down again.

We always have gammon, cauliflower cheese, peas and cranberry sauce for Boxing day- I prefer it to the actual Christmas day meal tbh.

Every year I look at the food, say I’ve bought too much, and vow to do better next year. But I never do!

We decorate on Christmas Eve night. One of my happiest childhood memories was the excitement of getting up to a decorated house and a tree on Christmas morning.
I did cheat this year though as DS1's GF is going to her folks for Christmas. Because we did an extra Christmas Dinner with her and our two sons on the 23rd we decorated on the night of the 22nd.

only one tradition here. I take a photo of them together on Christmas Eve. in the fireplace. Yes in the fireplace. Whacking big inglenook so they sit in it, with their sacks and stocking.

its the only time they allow me to do it. 23 yrs I started.
