Sainsbury's question...

I was at Sainsbury's at 6am when it opened this morning and it was still incredibly busy.

I've decided I'm going to get a delivery next Christmas.

When do the delivery slots usually come out and do people get exactly what they've ordered?

Thank you for this!! Mine is booked for 10-11 today as well and was getting worried that I had had no email/receipt!!!

My receipt came through at 10.03. the tills just won't allow alcohol through before 10.00 I sometimes do a click and collect at 10-11 and the van is always late coming to the collection point. I've educated a lot of people about it who just hadn't realised. Hope you've got your receipt now. I had 2 substitutions. White sparkly non alcoholic wine instead of rose and a slightly different cheese selection so all good!

Thanks all.

I used to enjoy the 6am Christmas shop...

Not sure if it's menopausal but I felt really overwhelmed by the other customers and panicked that I wasn't going to get everything I needed this morning.
It was not pleasurable at all.

So when you book your slot in November, you don't actually stipulate what food you want? When do you order your food?

On a more positive note, I got a snow globe chocolate box from M and S afterwards...down from £15 to £5 with my Sparks card.

No you book your food at the same time. You can't check it out unless there is more than £25 in your basket for Sainsbury's..some people just throw a few bottles in to get it to that level and then alter it as you go along. I had to add pringles at 8pm last night as my son said we had to have them...he's 29!!

I’m a delivery pass holder so got my Christmas slot in November and reserved it with a bottle of champagne. You then have up to 11pm the night before to add and amend. Never have any issues with substitutions, they do happen but are always sensible. Mine arrived today with good dates and only 3 subs. One was cat treats, one type of spring rolls for another, and the other was napkins so no dramas there!

I always go for a slot on 23rd in case anything is missing so can pop out and try and get it but so far over a few years not needed to!

Same as above, delivery pass holder booked the slot in early November and held the slot with a bottle of champagne. Edited the order yesterday, it just arrived and had everything except orange juice. However, since the receipt is emailed to you several hours before delivery, I knew this was missing and nipped out and bought some first thing. Some squashed boxes which I got refunds for (kept the products as the plastic coverings were intact) , everything else fine. Happy!

Sainsburys is crap when it's busy, it's like they have no common sense, they don't open extra tills or put in any kind of measures to support increased demand, so the queues get out of hand really quick.

I went in yesterday, click and collect/online shopping carts blocking every aisle, all the manned checkouts were closed and the self serve had a queue going all the way up the aisle to the other end of the store. I just put my basket down and went to Tesco. Easily more people in Tesco but every till was staffed, no queues, customers were being moved through efficiently, shelves were stocked, there were no picking carts getting in the way. I was in and out in less than 20 minutes.

Mine arrived this morning with zero substitutes or missing items!

I order from Sainsbury's regularly and never get any issues.

I have a delivery pass and I 'think' you get notified of Christmas delivery slots being open before others. I booked a slot in Nov, but the only one left was for the 18th. It wasn't a massive shop, but I got everything, no subs. Our delivery Sainsburys is absolutely massive though, so its extremely rare to get any subs anyways.

I was at Sainsbury's at 6am this morning too for a couple of bits, and ours was pretty quiet. Busier than usually is that early, but not at all what you could call busy. Stocks looked good too.

I walked straight up to a roll without having to queue, and that's me finished now.

mondaytosunday · 23/12/2024 13:47

October, some shops (Waitrose) in September. I did get what I ordered when I used Sainsbury's, but one thing I would not do is change my order once placed as I find that resets it and what you had 'reserved' may now read out of stock.
Tesco had delivery slots available for Christmas Eve as of this past Saturday, whether there was everything in stock I couldn't say.

daffodilandtulip · 23/12/2024 13:50

Did mine a bit earlier, last Friday, but there were no subs or missings.

MonkeyTennis34 · 23/12/2024 14:16

Thanks all.

Just walked to my local Asda to get some more wrapping paper.
Holy moly, the self service queue!!

Home now and never want to see a supermarket again 🤣

I booked my slot as soon as Sainsbury's emailed to say they were open - I ordered a couple of bottles of whisky then changed the order to what I needed the day before the delivery. It arrived with only 2 substitutes, both the larger size of the same brand item I'd ordered.

MonkeyTennis34 · 23/12/2024 17:08

@Musicaltheatremum
Thanks for the explanation 👍🏻
