Thinking of heading out after lunch to buy all the veg, salads etc for Christmas Eve/ Day/ boxing day. Too early? Will it keep? Trying to save 2 trips into town!

Yes of course it'll keep. It'll be good for a week. Good luck out there!

Depends for me salad stuff too early

I bought mine yesterday. All dates showing as the 5th Jan.

It's this paranoia that makes shopping near Christmas a nightmare.

I've got an online shop coming on 24th but I plan to head out about 7.30am tomorrow for the turkey, pigs in blankets, stuffing etc. We're not having our dinner until Boxing day.

I have all the veggies coming Tuesday so worse case I can pop out if anything else is missing.

Course it will, I usually do one food shop to last a week, it’s only a few days away.

Doggymummar · 22/12/2024 10:27

Mine arrived this morning dated till January

I think I'll head in this afternoon then, hopefully not as busy as first thing tomorrow!

Just back from getting the last fresh pieces today (salads, cut herbs etc). Hope it'll last us until the 28th.

Bagged salad leaves keep for about 5 mins outside of the supermarket but a proper lettuce with a stalk on will be fine. All the other bits will be fine too.

I would have thought this afternoon would be bedlam, I went to Tesco at 9am yesterday and the car park was 3/4 full, the later opening today will only compound the crowds!. Personally I would go tomorrow morning, the shelves should be fully stocked then

This is exactly why I'm going early tomorrow morning. it's been completely packed the last 2 weeks
