Food in a power cut?

Just looking for advice. Power cut in our area. Registered with Scottish power said aiming to have it on by 5am but it went off about an hour ago now I noticed as my youngest baby woke me. I logged my number so I’ll get updates I’ve unplugged things etc

(very lucky this is my situation) my fridge and freezer is full for Christmas dinner - how long can the power be off for before I have to throw the food out??

I keep seeing different stuff online and I have 2 young children who’ll be eating our food and an elderly FIL so definitely don’t want to chance anything with food in case it’s gone ?

Be fine for a day. Just don't open the fridge or freezer door. Will be absolutely fine.

24 hours is the guideline here in the subtropics so you should be fine. Keep the doors closed though.
