Recommend me a Christmas cocktail 🍸

I need something fabulous to drink while cooking Christmas lunch.

I prefer sharp or sour tastes over sweet or creamy. Not keen on brandy or whiskey but like vodka, gin and rum. Last year it was mojitos which got quite sickly in the end.

White Lady or gin martini

I made myself a nice cocktail last night. Rum, triple sec, juice of a lime and some extra fiery ginger wine. Was delicious and very Christmassy. Hic.

A poinsettia is my go to Christmas cocktail. Like a Bucks Fizz but with cranberry juice and fizz instead of orange and a dash of Cointreau or Triple Sec.

You can mix the Cointreau with cranberry juice in the bottom of a jug, keep it in the fridge then top up with a bottle of prosecco or whatever bubbly you like if making a lot.

Dark and Stormy

Ice
Dark Rum, spiced rum is even nicer at Christmas
Ginger beer..get the good gingery stuff, not just Canada dry
Squeeze of lime and garnish with lime slice

Some people drink it out of a copper mug, but Im not that fancy!

I rotate between negroni and gin martinis usually, but when I'm feeling fancy I love a naked and famous.

I'm toying with the idea of topping the glass with sparkling wine, a la spagliato

I also love a corpse reviver #2, if you're not a fan of mezcal...

American trilogy - a British-Italian friend introduced me to this. It's made with orange bitters so tastes v. festive.

Poinsettias. They make everyone really happy and they look pretty.

Christmas Kiss....glass of fizz, with a shot of vodka. Then use cranberry or preferably cranberry and raspberry juice and a heart shaped ice cube maker to make frozen red hearts to go in

Cherry bakewell - cherry brandy, amaretto, lemonade or prosecco.

Vodka with 50/50 orange juice/ginger ale.

Winter berry bellini - www.waitrose.com/ecom/recipe/winter-berry-bellini

Amaretto Sour. If you like sour tastes then go down the "sours" route and you'll find your tipple there.

Bloody Mary 🌶

I love a Bucks Fizz at Christmas. Planning on making big orange juice ice cubes with cranberries and orange slices in, and then some cranberry juice ones too this year. Put the ice cube in a champagne coupé, pour prosecco over - yum!

Although I might be into G&Ts by cooking time!

DH and I are attempting to rationalise the spirits cupboard ATM. He made Negronis using up some Fino Sherry of uncertain heritage.

Something with plenty of ice is good if you are cooking.
