Newcastle or Leeds for a night away ?

Me and my partner are having a night away next weekend.
We live in Middlesbrough
I'm unsure where to go
Both about the same time on a train
Leeds costs £70 more to get there for both
Hotels are about the same price
Newcastle we have a £30 voucher for a cocktail bar

Leeds have the better shops

I'm unsure where would you go ?
Which is better ?

I would say Newcastle, on the basis that the train fare is cheaper. There are lots of good shops and great nightlife.

I am kinda swaying to Newcastle just because it will work out cheaper
