Gateshead flyover closed
Metros not running across the river because of the flyover
Tyne bridge down to one lane
Potential issues with Redheugh bridge
a1 works been going on for decades

Our entire region is becoming unnavigable due to the mismanagement of our transport infrastructure and no one seems to care. Just had to get that off my chest.

A1 has been shit for years due to permanent constant road works..
I am NE but south of the region and wfh so it doesn't impact me on a daily basis but I agree that the transport infrastructure is shit.
You are right that no-one cares, politicians seem to think that the North ends at Manchester!

@twistyizzy yes, I realised that more than ever during Storm Arwen a few years ago. We like thousands of others had no power for a week and had to move out, but it was barely mentioned on national news.

I avoid the Tyne Bridge, but do sometimes use the Redheugh bridge. I was shocked about the flyover. I guess things haven't been maintained adequately and the concrete is nearing the end of its life. We miss out on everything. I remember when the Metro system first opened and there were plans to extend it to Washington. Still waiting 🙄

I heard about the issues from colleagues up there. Sounds a real nightmare.

Apparently they will have to stop running the metros south of the river as they can't get back to the depot for servicing.

The metro's were off to the airport yesterday too (some sort of overhead cable issue) which was a pain in the arse for us as we were going away. Got a lift to the airport instead and we are now enjoying a break in Copenhagen.

Agree that we are largely ignored and left to get on with it.
