So, I'm not going to be specific as it could be outing, but today I had some money put into my account (not loads but not small fry either) and have had 2 quite niche books arrive, no card. Not wrapped, straight from Amazon. Money had no reference other than a long string of letters and numbers. Books are obviously someone who knows a)where I live as sent to my address addressed to me b) vaguely connected to where a member of family lives c) quite a niche interest, so someone who thinks they know me.

I'm really unsure how to feel about this as tbh I asked my only family member left and they confirmed it wasn't them... I've had issues with stalking behaviour in the past and I am quite worried that this is something that might be connected. Is there any way I can find out? I am really hoping this is just a nice gesture pre-christmas, however I'm cynical as all friends are broke and this is not in character for any if them.
Wwyd?

If it's somebody who has your account details they have sent you money before probably - can you cross reference the letters and numbers and see if you can identify? How many people have your account details?

Who does it say it's from on the bank? I had a random payment last week, turns out to be a backpayment on my pension but it wasn't sent by them, I had to Google. Then a letter arrived a week later.

Amazon, I doubt they'd give you the sender details due to GPDR.

There must be some indication of where the bank transfers came from. When I look at my online banking, it gives me the name of the account holder and the sort code/account number. What does it say? I’m sure it can’t be blank.

Would the stalker know your account details? For example, have they sent you money before? Ex partner, former roommate, sibling who may have made a payment to you in the past?

Are you due any benefits payments or pay at the end of the month? A lot of payments were made today ahead of offices closing for Christmas. If there is no account name, just a long reference number, that sounds like a benefit payment. They come through like that sometimes.
