Ideas for cocktails Christmas Day please

Looking for cocktail ideas for the big day.
DH is happy with Buck's Fizz with breakfast, DD and I not so much.

So decided we'll start the day 'healthy' with a Bloody Mary.

What do we have as a pre lunch cocktail and for the start of the big games session early evening?

We like most spirits (except tequila 🤮) but not keen on sickly sweet.

Hit me with your ideas 🙏

Snowballs of course!

DH used to make one that was delicious but lethal! It involved Captain Morgan’s Spiced Rum, Cranberry Juice and something else that I cannot remember!

I’ve asked him what it was called so if he can remember I will post it!

I'm going to make Black Velvets (Guiness and Prosecco mix - using zero Guiness this to make it less strong) and also a fruity one (can't remember what it called) which is Campari with cranberry & grapefruit juice - so tangy and bright red.

Ok, he tells me it’s called a Red Carpet, though when I googled it I couldn’t find a recipe of that name with Captain Morgan’s in it!

This is what he does:

Ice in a tall glass
1 shot Captain Morgans
0.5 shot Cointreau
Top up with Cranberry juice
Add a squeeze of fresh lime

Enjoy!

Personally I love a Black Russian:

Shot of Vodka
Shot of Tia Maria
Top up with Coke

love a passion fruit/pornstar martini-I’ll be making them

Grand mimosa! It’s just sparkling wine, orange juice and grand Marnier. Might scratch DH Buck’s Fizz itch whilst also being a bit different.

A Grinch! Blue curacao, orange juice and prosecco (there's also a version with blue curacao, pineapple juice and vodka - basically anything that turns green when mixed 😁)

This could also work cos DD and I are partial to the odd Guinness and Cava will be plentiful in our house

Poinsettia - Cointreau, Prosecco and cranberry juice.

DelilahBucket · 20/12/2024 11:52

Dark and Stormy (rum based)
Cherry Bakewell (amaretto, cherry juice and prosecco)
Negroni (gin, Campari and Martini Rossi, needs a slice of fresh orange and lots of ice)
Also partial to a Kir Royale (prosecco and creme de cassis)

SeaToSki · 20/12/2024 11:54

Dark and Stormy

Ice in glass..add…
Rum (spiced rum is even better at christmas)
Ginger beer (the more gingery the better)
Squeeze of lime (but just a touch) and garnish with a lime slice

super easy, super yummy and you can up or down the rum content depending on your preferences 😁
