I need to make a template and after working a 16 hour day I am not computing how I need to do it!

is anyone good at word? I want to make a card template, where when it prints (two sided), it folds into a card. I am able to do this A4 but want to do an a5 version (two a5 on an a4 piece of card to save on printing costs and not sure how to do this on one word document! (Is it even possible?)

can anyone please help?

Print the A4 '2 pages per sheet'?

FedUpandDownAgain · 19/12/2024 23:37

And then cut in half

ShrimpBoil · 19/12/2024 23:38

Do a4 design and print 2 to a page. If you do 4 pages of the design and print double sided it should work - just work out which order to print in (ie pages 1,3,2,4)
Does that make sense?

FedUpandDownAgain · 19/12/2024 23:38

Sorry, just seen double sided. That may or may not work... You might have to play around with the printing layout

I'd use Canva but if you're using Word there's lots of tutorials on YT - you need to create "columns" and change the orientation etc etc

This is how it is designed on the normal a4 size, (needs 2 a4 pages.) what do I need to do to make it so I can print two a5 cards on card and trim them (covered actual pics with random letters!)

I have Canva, but still am not sure how I can print double sided but a5 size.

what @ShrimpBoil said.
youll need to copy the design onto multiple pages in Word
in printing settings select both double sided and two to a page.
you may need p1 of the doc to be side 1 and p2 to be side 2 and then p3 side 1 and p4 sids 2, or both side 1s and then both side 2s but you should be able to print preview this to check, otherwise just print a test on scrap paper in blck and white

Do it in publisher. Its easy and has built in templates

ShrimpBoil · 20/12/2024 00:05

How do you want your card to come out - a5 folded in half with just a pic on the front?

Lavenderlights · 20/12/2024 00:07

A5 folded in half with a pic on the front and s typed message inside @ShrimpBoil

Thank you - this is prob not the easiest way but quickest for me - do blank page, pic, blank, pic, blank, words, blank words on a4 design (do writing in big font). Then print 4 to a page double sided. Think that should work - am trying to visualise while drinking wine but should have gone to bed hours ago!

Helpagirlout222 · 20/12/2024 00:19

A bit old school but if you have publisher I'd use that instead. It has a library of templates

Lavenderlights · 20/12/2024 00:19

Thank You I shall try this first thing!

And do you know ctrl enter to insert a hard return to a new page? Don't faff with enters all the way down the page - I'm old school and lots don't seem to know that.

Lavenderlights · 20/12/2024 00:20

Don’t think I’ve heard of that! 🙈 thank you!

Thank you! I loaded publisher but couldn’t seem to find an a5 card template where I could print double sided with an insert on a4 paper. 🙈

Print one then turn page & flip up side down and put it back in printer
That's how I done my wedding invites

Lavenderlights · 20/12/2024 04:24

Thank you. Yeah I could do that, didn’t think of that!
