I’m a PE club member, and will get gold status if I get another stamp (you get stamps for eating at the restaurants, doing take out etc) ‘by’ the 19th Dec.

Would you understand this to mean:

• I need to have the stamp by 18th Dec latest
• getting the stamp on 19th counts as ‘by’ the 19th

Neither

• I need to have the stamp by 18th Dec latest

This means by end of day on the 17

• getting the stamp on 19th counts as ‘by’ the 1^

This means on the 19th, not by.

You need to have it by end of day on the 18th which is by (before) the 19th.^

Go today just to make sure.
