Online Order. Sent too many, want me to get them back.

I recently placed an order for an online retailer, I ordered one of something but a box of 12 was sent. I decided I should let them know.

After 5 days I got a reply that simply said "please can you drop them off at a local store at some point.'

Whilst I do have shops locally they are not convenient to get to either being in a town centre or on a retail park. Plus they are not places I usually go to (and I'd have to pay to park) I'm annoyed that they expect me to put myself out to rectify their mistake.

Would it be appropriate for me to get back to them and say if you want them back you need to arrange this at no inconvenience or cost to me?

Half wish I'd never said anything.

They haven’t given you a deadline just keep them safe and drop them off when you are next in one of the places.

Yes, you shouldn't have to spend .money rectifying their mistake.
I got an incorrect order from Pretty Little Things once, they offered to have it collected or a.pre-paid postage label if I was happy to drop it off at the post.office. Easy peasy!

Tell them you have no time and to send a courier?

Explain it's not easy for you to get to your local store, but if they can arrange collection for x day am or pm, you'll happily return that way.
