I m feeling sorry for myself and lovely bf already left for work .

Since sat I ve been floored by the constant coughing, headache and band of tightness round my kidneys.

Just called in sick for the first time since 2021!

Its bad timing as going new Zealand on sat for 3 weeks to see my brother 😁. So loads to do as a handover but 1. Need to be better before 24 hours of flights 2. Don't want to make anyone in the office I'll for Christmas.

Fuzzy fuzzy head , come make soothing noises please and show me cute pet photos

Oh god tell me about it!
Im 35 weeks today absolutely shattered as it is now dealing with the flu and Im so weak. The cough the tension headache and the body aching could not have come at a more inconvenient time😭

I also have flu.- similar symptoms, but my face really, really hurts, and I can't sleep properly.

Irritatingly, I had norovirus recently too, so have broken my unblemished sickness record 😪🤒

Trying to explain to 5 year old DD that I need to lie down is not working...

Highly recommend anti-histamines to help any sinus pain!

Yes me. Had a niggly sore throat and headache on Sat then felt like utter rubbish yesterday and have been up and down hot and cold all night. The headache and chest pains when coughing are agony and whole body aches. I leave my job at the end of this week so really not sure whether to try and battle in for the last few days at least. Will see how I am on Thursday but hoping this will be gone by then as have so much to do!

How do we know if flu or another virus? I have not felt this bad in a long long time though.

Hope you get sorted and are better for the flight on Sat!

I've just rung in sick, again!

I feel bloody awful, I'm sleeping loads, coughing like mad and hitting the heady heights of about 1.5k steps a day.

This is now week 3 I think, I was on holiday last week, supposedly getting ready for Christmas and spent most of it in bed. Am nowhere near ready for Christmas!

My 6YO has flu and I took her up to the hospital on Saturday at the advice of 111 because her temperature kept climbing and neither paracetamol nor ibuprofen were reducing it. They did a swab test on her and I'm waiting to see if I catch it myself. Her temp is lower now, but still in the fever category and she's likely to miss her school nativity on Tues and weds plus a birthday party on Thursday and various other fun things. She's been too unwell to open her lego advent calendar for the last two days...

You can buy rapid flow tests for flu now - just discovered this! I'm just about to order some to use before I go into work on Thursday (WFH until then).

It's awful isn't it? I am just coming out the other side. 7 days for me. I hope you feel better soon.

eekwhatnow · 16/12/2024 08:25

I've just succumbed this morning after my husband has been in bed for 2 days with it. I'm so hoping I don't get as ill as he is with it.

Also called in sick for first time in two years. Thanks for the tip about flu testing. I've ordered one. I was in two minds about getting kids the flu vacc at school and now so glad that I did.

Need to find something sweet and comforting to binge watch.

Sorry to hear everyone is feeling so poorly! Well done for calling in sick to work, if you gifted this to me I would not be grateful. This is what sick leave is for, so have no guilt! You can't pour from an empty cup.

Wishing you comfort, cosiness and speedy recoveries all round. And decent film and TV if you can stay awake through them!

Justlikejessiesgirl · 16/12/2024 10:20

@Latenightreader thanks! Just ordered some myself so I know whether or not to go into work on Thursday! It will also depend on how I feel as would hate to pass this on to anyone for Christmas!

Sending healing vibes to all 😘

I feel your pain. Spent since Saturday early evening in bed, feeling like I've been run over by a speeding rhino..
Other half has been poorly for a week.
I've got up and had a shower as I felt really disgusting and now lying in the settee....
Missed my longest standing friend's birthday party on Saturday night....

Such a terrible time of year to get sick for missing things. Well done to everyone for getting to the end of the day. Let's hope for a marked improvement tomorrow.
