Endless phonecalls from different mobiles, background radio/tv noise

I recently got a PAYG sim from Giffgaff for a business I set up and all day I get phonecalls but nobody speaks and it's like a radio or tv talking in the background. Different mobile numbers each time, if an answer message is left it sounds like pocket noise or it's a message left in Chinese or some other language.
Nobody who knows me knows the number, it's literally just for this business.
What could be going on? Is it some sort of scam?
It's got to the point that I don't bother answering the phone because it's this weird background radio (although the other day i did actually get a customer phone -woohoo!)
I did contact giffgaff by the way who had no answers. I will be changing the number which is a pain because it's on all my literature.
Anyone else had this?

This is a strange one.

I've been with GiffGaff for donkey's years and never had any trouble - they are on the 02 network.

It does sound like it might be something to do with the number you have been allocated - did that come new from GiffGaff or did you transfer from another provider?

GiffGaff have a very supportive online community. Have you tried posting your problem there?

It sounds like you've got a recycled number.

It was from giffgaff, I've had a sim from them before and never had problems like this. It's really annoying because it's making me not want to answer the phone because it's relentless.
