Will I get food poisoning?

Hi all,

emetophobic here so vomiting, meat etc terrifies me. I just want some reassurance that I won’t get food poisoning.

Two weeks ago I made a pork bolognese sauce, all in date etc and ate it and was fine so froze the leftovers.

Took out the bolognese yesterday evening from the freezer and put into the fridge to thaw. I am going to microwave it warm and eat the rest for dinner and make pasta to go with it.

This should be fine right?

I’m sorry it sounds ridiculous but as an emetephobe and someone who struggles to eat anyway I’d like some reassurance please.

TIA x

You need to microwave until it's piping hot, not warm. Otherwise it's all good!

NailsHairNipsHeels · 14/12/2024 17:09

I do this regularly.. it's been defrosted properly and make sure you get it up properly you'll be absolutely fine.

I do this all the time thanks to batch cooking

@NailsHairNipsHeels @No33

Thank you for the reassurance I really appreciate it!

For one portion how long roughly in the microwave do you think?

It sounds as if you have done everything the right way.
Thawing it in the fridge and warming it up in the microwave is the correct way.
I'm sure you meant you would reheat it to be hot in the microwave rather than warm, you can always let it cool before putting it over your pasta.

I always microwave my food so it's really hot, and then let it cool down. I do 2 mins, then 1 minute intervals, keep giving it a stir.

QuestionableMouse · 14/12/2024 19:46

Buy yourself a meat thermometer. It'll tell you without doubt if your food has been heated enough.

Fireworknight · 14/12/2024 19:48

Yes, that’s fine. I put it in the microwave for a couple of minutes, then taste a bit. If not hot, I put it in a little longer.

Wot??

Aglassaday · 14/12/2024 21:13

Thank you all for the advice and reassurance, really appreciate it and I managed to successfully reheat and eat it all despite my emetephobia so that’s a win for me!

Sometimes the smallest things cause the most ridiculous amounts of anxiety🙈
