Small gift for an elderly couple

Hello!

Any ideas for a small gift for an elderly couple. Ideally I'd like to give them one thing that they could both enjoy; they were our very helpful neighbours and since we moved we haven't seen them much. They're not keen on chocolates and I'm not sure what other food item would be appropriate- any ideas even if it's non-food but the same sort of vibe so they would t feel like they had to reciprocate.

Thanks!

A scarf each?

A planted up basket of paperwhite narcissi, which will bloom around Christmas.

How about a calendar with art or landscape pictures? Extra calendars are always useful or eminently re-gift able!

Oh, I have to say I wouldn't like this. I have a calendar on my phone. What would I do with a calendar? It would just be clutter. I would stick to consumables. Either the recipient will use it or they will regift it. But items like candles, calendars, etc. You have to find somewhere to put it, very annoying.

I know quite a few elderly couples. They're definitely not using phone calendars!

I personally dislike candles (fire risk, don't like artificial smells) but as a teacher, get given them quite often.

Anyway, it's about the thought isn't it? You're always risking missing the mark with people you don't know well.

Older people often like a calendar.

I think I would make up a box/basket with nice tea bags, marmalade, jam etc OR a voucher for a local carvery of similar

Agree . I usually get several calendars often with nice pictures but I never use them.

Aren't the nice pictures the POINT 😂?

I guess it depends, my 90 year old mother is a whizz with her phone
