Murder mystery party for 11 - 53 year olds

We’re planning a murder mystery night for NYE with family. There’ll be 8 of us maximum and I want to buy a game where we can dress up/get into character.

Does anyone have recommendations? I heard Death by Chocolate was good but it says 14+. Has anyone played that/know why it’s that rating?

Or can you recommend something else?

On another note, I have a boy (14) who doesn’t want to play. I think he’ll really enjoy it if he gives it a try. Would you make him play, or just let him miss out? I’m in two minds.

Why and how would you force a teen to engage in what is really a very marmite thing?

It's one way to kill an atmosphere - forced fun. By all means do your game but don't force people!

Don't force him- not everyone enjoys subjects such as murder being used for entertainment.

The reason I was considering making him join is I genuinely think he’d enjoy it if he tried it.. He’s often reluctant to try new things, but then enjoys them when he gets going. Everyone else will be laughing and enjoying the fun and he’ll be missing out. But I appreciate he’s old enough to make his own decisions so no doubt i’ll just let him do whatever he wants.

Anyway, my main question still stands. Any recommendations? Thanks
