Honeymoon on a bit of a budget

We initially dreamed of a luxury, romantic Italian honeymoon. We've come to realise that Italy is incredibly expensive and after the wedding we will have no money left!

We have adjusted our expectations and I am now looking for recommendations for lovely hotels suitable for our honeymoon.

Costa blanca has been vetoed but other than that we're open to anywhere.

Requirements are:
Nice weather in August/September
Under £3k for 2 adults
Under 5 hour flight away
Nice pool area
Walking distance from civilisation
Generally a nice place to go!

Many thanks

How long do you want to go for?

Sheknowsyouknowaye · 11/12/2024 21:04

What's your budget?

Turkey, depending on if you want to be venturing out or staying in a resort, there’s some amazing hotels all inclusive 5 star in Antalya for a week at £3k ish, all inclusive meaning minimal spending money needed.

Cyprus- Protaras we love but Paphos is beautiful too, again could get a 4/5 star hotel, 7 nights all inclusive for around £3k. Protaras has a fab strip with bars/restaurants if you did want to venture out.

Definitely do September, it will be half the cost and so much less busy!

I'd recommend Ischia, an island of the coast of Naples. Beautiful place.

D'oh - so read your post OP, sorry

Ah see this is where I make a liar of myself and start to be picky.

Consider Turkey also vetoed!

Around a week @Mrsttcno1

Hoping for a a bed and breakfast where we can go out and about locally. Not an all inclusive stuck in a resort kind of place.

I'd like a European kind of vibe.

Majorca
Portugal
South of France, I wouldn't be against a lovely village somewhere quiet but lovely.

Ah I know but the wedding is beginning of Aug and we like the idea of going straight after rather than waiting a month.

I get the idea of wanting to go straight away but just frame it as getting somewhere twice as nice to stay!

The trip we did was 3 stops - Naples, Sorrento then Ischia.

Highly recommend this hotel in Naples:

Then this one in Sorrento

In Ischia we stayed in an airbnb for a bit of privacy, but I know people who have stayed here and loved it

Also if you go to Ischia you can hire a power boat and take it out yourselves for a few hours, which is actually pretty reasonable and very romantic. It's where we got engaged!

Happy planning

Madeira? My parents went earlier in the year and it looks and sounds stunning

MiddleAgedDread · 12/12/2024 11:29

Within 5 hours you've got all of Europe and The Canaries and potentially even into North Africa.
The further south you go, the hotter it will be and some areas may be too hot in August.
Prices will drop considerably from the start of September when the schools go back.

How’s your planning going op? Did you book somewhere?
