Off to watch in January and would like to book food between the performances, I understand there’s a gap of about two hours? Any recommendations please?

Adults? Children? Budget? Preferences in food terms?

Greentreesandbushes · 11/12/2024 17:27

Hard Rock Cafe is decent or China town

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 11/12/2024 17:29

I really like Maresco which is less than a 10 minute walk.

Bocca di Lupo on Archer Street. Modern Italian, beautiful food, buzzy atmosphere and very nice service. Plus they have a gelateria across the street with unusual icecream flavours and good coffee for dessert.

We ate at the Three Greyhounds. Pub round the corner. Nice atmosphere. Ok pub grub for the area

So I guess booking for 5.30 would be appropriate? Country mouse in the big city…!

Which day of the week? I think the Sunday timings are different. I'd choose somewhere that serves all day (Bocca does, which is one reason I like it), and book for 5.00, giving yourself plenty of time to eat and get back to the theatre.

We ate at www.ilcucciolorestaurant.net the other evening. There is Noodles Inn next door which looked good, but you queue for a table, no reservations.

maltravers · 11/12/2024 18:20

Chinatown is fun and you are right next door to it. I’ve been to Bocca da Lupo which I agree is very nice, but more expensive I imagine (I was there on a work thing so didn’t see the prices).

Flat Iron steak restaurant. Amazing!!!!

jay55 · 11/12/2024 18:22

Flat iron on Denmark street. Zip straight over and you'll beat the queue.

Greatpot · 11/12/2024 18:23

Chinatown

I've been twice and booked the Cambridge pub right next door. They have a theatre menu and are aware that many of their patrons at that time are heading back to the show so time everything beautifully.

eleanoreleanoreleanor · 11/12/2024 18:39

We did Côte with adults and wildwood with kids, I couldn't fault either to be fair!

Whatwouldnanado · 11/12/2024 18:59

Thank you very much everyone. Will look into the suggestions.

I see Bocca has quite a reasonable looking pre theatre menu - could be a good call if you are midweek:

Whatwouldnanado · 11/12/2024 19:18

It’s a Friday. I am thinking the Cambridge but will certainly bank other suggestions including Bocca for the following night when we are seeing another production. Thanks everyone.

We went a couple of weeks ago (one adult on preteen) we went to Bella Italia on Shaftesbury Ave. Great service and I signed up to their email and got a voucher for a free main

Honestly you have endless options around there

Seven dials market for lots of options of street food

Lahpet is delicious Burmese food

Berenjak for Middle Eastern

Chotto matte for sushi

Barrafina for tapas

Lina stores for reasonable pasta

Bubala soho for amazing veggie food

The French House is brilliant for food and a quick drink

Cafe Boheme is nice for a drink and casual french food

I would just say to try and go somewhere that isn't a chain/you can go to in any city
