Can you Chromecast Netflix to your TV with their cheapest package?

I bought the £4.99 Netflix package in the summer. I logged in on my phone and tried to cast it to the TV but it wouldn’t let me. Turned out you can only watch it on the phone. Obviously pointless as I don’t want to sit and watch a film on my phone so got a refund. Now I’m looking again and it says you can watch it on two devices… is it because we also used to have the app and watch it on an iPad that it wouldn’t let me cast it to the TV?

I just want to watch it on the TV with the £4.99 package - is this possible!?

I'm 99% sure you need to have an ad-free package to be able to Chromecast Netflix.

Why can’t you log in on your TV and watch it direct from Netflix?

I just looked at the £4.99 plan details and it says ‘some older devices and types of TVs don’t support the Standard with adverts plan’ so you definitely can watch it on TV not just phone.

We have the £4.99 with ads plan and we just watch on the TV so I was pretty sure you could; just checked nothing had changed for new subscribers! My TV is at least 5 years old and I have no problems.

Or you can try clicking ‘log out on all devices’ and make sure it doesn’t think you are over the 2 limit.

No, you can't cast on the 4.99 plan.

I play it on my laptop and connect it up to the TV with a HDMI cable.

I'm happy with the ads but not being able to cast us really annoying.

That would require someone to have a smart TV.

Yes I know it would. I think I misunderstood the Chromecast bit - I thought it was like a Firestick (that’s what I used before I got a smart TV).

In fact the Firestick might be a good option for OP if her TV isn’t smart.
