New washing machine leaked and flooring damage- advice please

Hello. Would appreciate any advice.

A washing machine that was 1 year old leaked during a wash. The engineer sent under the warranty found that the detergent tray had cracked, likely from shock absorption failure.

I instigated a claim with the machine manufacturer who are offering £250 towards repair of flooring. The flooring is laminate and covers the whole floor plan. So despite it only being the kitchen that is affected,it's far too much to pay for privately, as the whole floor plan will likely need replacing (I haven't been ascertain the details of the flooring so even if it were still made, it couldn't be sourced. I think it's quite old)

My insurance has an excess of £550 for escape of water.

I was hoping the washing machine manufacturer would offer to cover the excess at least. There is no argument from them that it's their duff machine that has caused the issue.

Just wondered if anyone has had similar and can advise? Is it worth taking the manufacturer to small claims for the whole of the excess? Or suck it up?

Will your insurance definitely cover the cost of replacing all the flooring?

Get a few quotes from floor retailers.
Be better informed.

You might not have to replace as much as your think.
