Dh was in high dependency unit in hospital and thought he was dying. That was over 10 years ago now. He is still here and pretty well considering . And yes we did get married not long after he left hospital.

No proposal. We were at my mum's for Christmas. My sister had just announced her engagement. My now DH and I were sitting on our own in the kitchen and I said 'we could do that' , and that was that.
We then had to wait for about 18 months to let anyone at all know as my sister just would NOT set a date and we didn't want to steal her thunder. Then we told our mother's but nobody else for another 6 months or so. In the end we arranged wedding in 4 weeks flat when my mum received a diagnosis of terminal cancer and got married 2 days before she died. My sister got married 2 weeks after our mum died.... she wanted a bit more of a wedding than we did... We just went for the most basic Register Office wedding and had a celebration the following year.
