Hair dresser help please

After a bout of depression, my hair got very matted.

I managed to get out quite a lot with conditioner and some olive oil. However I still have some very dense matted areas that I can't seem to untangle.

What should I do? Cut into it? - it will remove a lot of hair.

Is there an alternative? I've tried using a comb, trying to bring out strands but it's so dense.

Advice appreciated.

(I am not a hairdresser).

Keep going with the conditioner!

Can you cut some of it? 1 or 2 cm? Just to make it easier to untangle? I don't think you have to cut of the whole matted areas, but cutting of some of it might help.

I think there are some YouTube-videos on this subject, I would try and do a search for them. There might be som good advice in those.

Can you have someone help you with the detangling? A friend, or even a hairdresser? It might be easier to work with your hair with you sitting down and someone standing up and being able to see your whole hair.

Good luck!
I wish you all the best! I hope you are feeling better.

@Hairproblem

How about trying a garnier hair mask? You can put loads on and just leave it on for a while and then try combing through before rinsing or just rinse it out.

You can also put a small amount on and leave it on..

I have used the garnier aloe vera hair food.

Or there is a detailing spray that I have used on my DC long hair it is by child's farm. There are other brands available, but this is the one I have used.

You can get both delivered by amazon if you don't fancy a trip to boots.
