Bored with life

I'm 49. I Work FT. Run a ship-shape house. 2 DC 16, DH.

I'm bored. I've got some fantastic holidays booked for next year to look forward to. But I'm still bored. Nothing is exciting anymore.

Aged 17 I hooked up with an older guy, much to my parents disgust. He got me into pubs/clubs, let me drive his car, took me to parties. It was the excitement. I went from school everyday and being serious to a whole different experience. I now have my own car and can go to any pub/ club I want. It's not that. It was the excitement I felt.

I'm not looking for a hobby or change of job or to do an adrenaline activity. I have lovely friends and DH to go out with but ... but I don't know.

I want excitement but I don't know what that looks like anymore And/or at my age.

No she's not. She's mired down in domesticity , it can be very boring.

17 is when everything is either new or illegal - it makes it all very exciting! I've never had excitement like those times sine and know I never will again. I'm pretty ok with that though as I've got some pretty big plans for the future, more than just some nice holidays. Maybe you need some big plans for the future?

@Tess150 are you able to share your plans ?

You could experiment to see if it's the "firsts" problem with a new year resolution. You resolve to doing one new thing each week of the year. You can make the new things big or small - I've done it a couple of times and the new things have ranged from visiting a new country to ordering a drink I'd never tried in a bar. Both times it made for an interesting year.

OP, same here, similar circumstances. It’s almost like nothing else exciting of my own will ever happen, aged 46. And since I am doomed to just live out my days now, I have decided to focus on two things - get myself into a super fit shape (on track and feel great) and put considered effort into surrounding myself with beauty, from eating lovely meals with candles each evening to carefully chosen bed linens and scatter cushions etc. Clothes, accessories, make up - all curated, loved, no bulging wardrobes and nothing to wear. The excitement now comes within.

No real point to any of it but that is how I get my kicks.
