Things around the O2 in London

I had plans with a friend to go to an event at the O2 in London, meeting for a couple of hours beforehand to hang out and get some food etc. Unfortunately she is ill and now can't make it. I am a bit gutted to be honest but trying to think how I can make the best of it. There isn't time for me to meet up with anyone else between my train arriving and the concert. I live quite far away (booked train weeks ago) so can't just turn up as doors open or anything like that. I'm staying in a nearby Premier Inn after the event.

So please help me with your suggestions of what you would do. I know there is shopping but I'm not into designer labels or anything like that, so I'm a bit nervous that I will spend the time just wandering around a bit lost. I don't know the local area at all.

I agree with PP, if you like designer shopping then the O2 is good, but if you don't then it's about 20 minutes by bus or tube/DLR to get to historic Greenwich which is lovely and has lots to see and do.

Alternatively you could pop over to Canary Wharf which is even closer and quite interesting if you've never been in a cosplay Manhattan sort of way. Or you could walk up to the Greenwich Peninsula Ecology Park if it's open (phone is playing up so I can't check) or just walk along the river which is always interesting, or take the cable car across.
