Please help find outfits for 13yr old dd for formal meal & family events.
we have several ‘nice’ events coming up, but did usually only in jeans & t shirt. She has agreed to wear something more appropriate, but won’t help choose as she apparently doesn’t care. I’d like to get something fashionable that she may wear again, but not sure what’s really in at the moment.

My teens like Hollister. They have a good selection of dresses and mini skirts that are teen appropriate, with some (cropped) tops or jumpers. Also Brandy Melville. Or H&M/New Look for a cheaper option. If she's set on trousers, you can get her some non-jean trousers to look a bit smarter.

It does slightly depend on her style though. Can you take her shopping to choose something?

Thanks.
Typically most stuff in New Look that is suitable is out of stock in her size.
she’s not really found her style yet as she’s quite self conscious.

haven’t really got time to go physically shopping so might have to order a few things to see if they’ll work. Just not really sure what’s is acceptable amongst teens these days. Is skater style ok. Not sure shed feel comfortable in the bodycon ones.

Look at monsoon, next and JL websites, lots of suitable choice on those websites

Newlook have some nice dresses in age 13 & up.
Dress
Newlook Dress
Skirt
All of these options would look nice with tights & boots & a jacket for winter outfits and without for summer outfits. Will your DD have a look at some of the options with you?

What about jumpsuits?

If your DD prefers jeans and t shirt, I'd try and find top and bottoms and avoid dresses. I've just looked at next as I love their next day delivery!

Could you get some smarter jeans and a couple of different top options? It's such a hard age and harder if they won't engage 🙈.

Thanks for the suggestions. .
she’s agreed to try a jumpsuit we’ve seen on ASOS or potentially a skirt she already has. Not sure if she’ll actually wear them, but we’ll see.
Definitely won’t get her in anything with sparkles or frills

DD has a great pair of pinstrip trousers with braces and a collar brooch which jazzes up any shirt from Disturbia. She also has a lovely black dress and a jump suit. If you can get past the initial gothicness of it they have some great pieces and have brilliant sales.
