Had an episiotomy 13 weeks ago and where the scar is on the right side hurts so much. It felt a little better for a while but it’s back to killing me. I can’t sleep because it hurts walking and sex hurts. I’ve been to the doctor twice had swabs and been told it looks ok just some scar tissue . currently waiting to be referred to gynaecology I’ve been given some codine for another condition and had to take some tonight. It’s only just taken the edge off. it stings feels tender like it’s throbbing burning sensation. Has anyone had similar what did they do. I’ve also got loads of discharge and told I’ve got nothing showing down there and it’s not related.

Don't have sex for a bit. You've been through a lot

I had an episiotomy 9 weeks ago and it was completely fine after a couple of days, can you request seeing another GP? Have you had a look with a mirror, does it look red/inflamed or anything?

I’ve looked constantly and there is a raised bump area but doctors don’t seem concerned I’ve seen 2 different doctors already. Am trying to see a private gynaecologist on work health insurance but I’m waiting for my form from gp to come back

I’ve only had sex once and not since which is a shame as I’ve been really up for it as we struggled during my pregnancy to have sex. Just miss intimacy with my husband.

Sex can wait. Let yourself heal properly first.

The stinging and burning symptoms sound like nerve damage. Another symptom of nerve issues is feeling an electrical shock sensation. Your stinging may be this sensation. It could be from the episiotomy, or from the birth. Keep notes to share your symptoms and concerns with the specialist. Good luck.

I had the exact same thing. It was over granulation of the scar tissue. The gynaecologist burned it away with silver nitrate (it didn't hurt) and the relief was amazing. It's been fine since
