Train cancelled today can I use my ticket tomorrow?

So went up to the midlands for a family get together today, trains going up there was fine, but train home was cancelled and all the trains after it because of the storm. So no chance of getting home today. Luckily I could stay at my sister's house. Will I be able to use my ticket tomorrow do you think? Don't want to have to buy another.

Check the train operator website, they will have details on it regarding disruption and how long tickets will be valid for.

Usually you'd need to apply for delay-repay for the cancelled journey and buy a new ticket for your new journey. But check the train operators website in case they offer anything different.

This isn't true at all. Please check the site of the toc.

This was possible for me last week. Also worth checking the train operator Twitter account

It's cross country and they aren't making it very clear on their website. I will try asking at the station tomorrow.

@colesr apologies, I usually travel Southern and they're often less than helpful! But I can see for today's storm-related cancellations they're allowing tickets to be used tomorrow.

Direct message them on social media, that way you will get written confirmation. Station staff may not know what the train company have decided to accept re tickets.

That is not accurate
Typically you can use the same ticket- look on their website

NerdWhoEatsMedlar · 07/12/2024 23:19

GWR you can you today's tickets up until Monday.

Cross Country seem to be a little less forthcoming. Just seem to say you can get a full refund.

Usually in this type of situation ( where the following trains are also cancelled) you can travel the next day with the same ticket and claim delay repay
