How to get parcels NOT left on your doorstep?

Bubblebuttress · 07/12/2024 11:07

We live on the main road and cannot have parcels left on the doorstep, just not safe.
What can we do. Is there a secure ‘parcel delivery’ box we can have, with a code?
Or can we ask people to send parcels to a locker? And how if it is not from amazon?

We have a ‘do not leave parcel’ setting but it does not always work if they see a car on the drive ( we may not be in still though)

any ideas welcome!

Yes, google "secure parcel delivery box" and there are many options.

Watching with interest. I'm thinking of putting up a sign to say parcels must not be left at the front door.

I don’t seem to have any trouble getting mine delivered to random places in the hedge on a road a 1/4 mile from my actual house where the couriers just seem to dump them, instead of my house. 😂

Yes, you need a parcel locker or somewhere secure around the back of the house where they can be left.

Are you receiving parcels or are they going missing, any that get pinched report and claim from the seller / merchant every time. You didn't authorize the parcel to be left so not your problem it's theirs.
Parcel delivery box is just an expense you should not have to deal with and if someone break into it looking for parcels that's another expense to replace.

I’ve tried complaining to them all nothing works.

my safe place is my garage. Or I have a back garden. Of half the time I’m actually at home.

they don’t care. They jump dump them on at thd front door and drive off.

I’ve taken to getting mines delivered to the local shop and just picking them up tbh.

Hazeltwig · 11/12/2024 01:03

I get mine delivered to a shop as well.

I'm becoming so frustrated with Amazon. Even things which will fit through the letterbox are left on the doorstep & the driver doesn't even knock! Just leaves it and scurries off. The locker is permanently full near me.
I'm at my wits end, luckily I haven't had anything stolen but I have had damages due to being left in the pouring rain.

We have new drkivery drivers because of Christmas , they knock and wait over deffo been caught in my hooded blanket thing more than once 😳

Wheelyfast · 11/12/2024 09:39

*delivery drivers

bakewellbride · 11/12/2024 10:02

I sometimes attach a note to my front door saying please leave with next door neighbour and an arrow (obviously ask the neighbour first)

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 20/12/2024 20:22

DD's main Christmas present, expensive GHD straighteners, were left on the front doorstep by royal mail. We live on a main road. The delivery man had clearly signed for them. 😡 We were all in the house at the time.

TwinkleLights24 · 20/12/2024 20:24

Amazon dumped mine on the door step even though they said it was posted on the letter box. I have a safe space too but some don’t bother.

I’ve had a few other companies do it too so if it’s expensive I make sure I’m in and track the delivery.

There are a few good options available now. We have one which allows you to get notifications when you get deliveries and control the box from your phone. iParcelBox, made by a small business in Yorkshire. A premium product but great reviews on Trustpilot and excellent customer service.
