Things that enrage you when you're already feeling overestimated

Mine are

  1. When I turn the tap on too hard and water goes everywhere
  2. When the hob beeps at me because I've put a dish on it when it's not turned on.
  3. When the bloody spaghetti server falls on the floor and gets sauce everywhere.

Overstimulated?

Yutoliketoto · 05/12/2024 17:41

When the hob locks and beeps because I have dared to wipe it over with a damp cloth and I have to stand there with my finger on unlock and count to ten until it seems to say, "Feeling better now. Didn't it do you good to count to ten and take deep breaths?"

When the phone starts screaming and puts a message on its sceen saying, " I am full of humidity. Disengage the charger immediately and dry me with a hairdryer on cool. This may take several hours." My phone is in French so it sounds extra supercilious.

When the electricity fuse box trips out because I have tried to use one ring on the petulant hob and the microwave at the same time whilst drying out the phone with the hairdryer...

The car switches off the engine at a junction. Go to pull out and the bastard won’t wake up in time

ladymalfoy45 · 05/12/2024 18:15

My husband slurping tea then having a big sigh after every gulp.
My husband making a weird groany noise when he turns over and then bangs me with his elbow.
People chatting to me on the phone whilst eating.
The washing machine beeping when it's finished every thirty seconds for three minutes.

InfoSecInTheCity · 05/12/2024 18:18

When I'm very clearly head down madly typing trying to get through a shit tonne of work and DH wanders in for a bit of a chat about sweet FA in the middle of the working day. I feel like if I actually turned to look at him the rage emanating from my eyes would set him on fire.

mamajong · 05/12/2024 18:25

Part of my clothes or hair getting snagged on a door handle thus yanking me back mid stride!

LittleRedRidingHoody · 05/12/2024 18:29

Literally any messages in my batshit families WhatsApp group.

DS (5) touching me 😬 (he's very tactile) ~ obviously hands or something is fine, but he'll see a bit of skin on my tummy if my top rides up or something and he'll just lunge 🫠

Multiple types of noise - I can normally deal with 2 at once if im overstimulated, but any more than that and I'm done 😂

DollopOfFun · 05/12/2024 18:30

Wet cuffs 😫argh

KnopkaPixie · 05/12/2024 18:39

My mum literally picking at my clothes. Like suddenly bending down and rearranging my jeans over the cuffs of my ankle boots or taking a stray hair off my jacket, or pulling the lapel of a blazer to make it "Lie better."

It's like Ronnie Corbett with his mother in "Sorry." She hasn't quite spat on a hanky and wiped my mascara blob yet but I can tell she would like to.

Yutoliketoto · 05/12/2024 19:08

Oh also - not being able to do up the zip on my coat.

MotherWol · 05/12/2024 19:15

The fridge beeps when you leave the door open for too long THANKS FRIDGE I HAVEN’T FORGOTTEN

People who send lots of messages instead of a couple of longer ones so your phone is constantly buzzing

Too many sounds at once

Trying to pick lunch in a busy shop with music and people (I have a default lunch now for days when I’m overwhelmed by choice)

Yutoliketoto · 05/12/2024 20:01

Appliances beeping seems to be a common one

It's my hob beeping that gets me. "HELP YOU'VE PUT A PAN ON ME!". Yes that's literally your job.

Oh also - not being able to do up the zip on my coat

This absolutely infuriates me. Same with zip up cardigans which then get rubbed and dirty at the bottom from trying to make the zip components fit together so it works.

MuggleMe · 05/12/2024 20:23

I find cooking with the kids in the kitchen a lot, when the extractor fan is on the kids seem to tip me over the edge.

Church when the toddlers are screeching after the service

The flickering light that's still not fixed in the Lego store

Eldest's audio book in the car

Thepossibility · 05/12/2024 20:23

My DH softly mumble talking. So I have to lean in and strain to hear and then still have no idea what he has said. Especially when he then has the audacity to be annoyed that I didn't hear something he has said.

Anddrumrollplease · 05/12/2024 20:25

Things falling out of cupboards when I’m trying to close them.
gives me the absolute rage

Yutoliketoto · 05/12/2024 20:36

The baby pulling my hair is another one. I had it all cut off because it did my head in that much.

DS wonky laptop flashing screen on and off when not in use.

Keys have made way to bottom of bag, especially on a wet rainy day like today when I just want to get in. Even better, searched pockets and bag and had left them at work.

Cat meowing for food when there are biscuits available in her bowl but she feels the critical biscuit mass is not acceptable.

Phone beeping at me, help help my battery is low. I have been on for all of 9 hours.

DS making whining dog noises.

Teenagers at work with audible sounds from PC or phone, just about audible video or music. I do work in a library, but am also easily feeling rage at audible distractions. My brain can't cope with trying to focus and tinny background noise.
They think I am a bonkers middle aged lady and perhaps they are not far from the mark.

Annnnd breathe.

PandaChopChop · 05/12/2024 20:42

DS' constant need to have something in his hands to make noise with. Usually the remote control which has a dodgy back on it so it can slide on and off and click clack click cl-aaaaaaaarrrrrrgggghhhhhh. Sometimes it's a pencil. A pen. A toy. Usually the remote.

He has SEN. I know this is something calms him and is able to help him focus but fuck me it drives me absolutely mental (because I also suffer from sensory bloody overload!!!!)

Wet cuffs 😫argh

Urgh, yes, this makes me feel so uncomfortable too. Wet socks too.

Yutoliketoto · 05/12/2024 20:50

I'd put on some lovely new, clean thermal socks the other morning and immediately stepped in a puddle of water my DS had left on the floor. Rage!!!

JMSA · 05/12/2024 20:53

When I press the start button on my Bosch washing machine and it bleeps angrily, before finally starting the wash 3 or 4 presses later.
It's a small thing but I swear it makes me murderous. Like, why can't it just register the first time?!

JMSA · 05/12/2024 20:53

mamajong · 05/12/2024 18:25

Part of my clothes or hair getting snagged on a door handle thus yanking me back mid stride!

Or corded earphones!
I swear it makes me want to Hulk smash Grin

helibirdcomp · 05/12/2024 20:55

The washing machine making me wait for a whole minute before it unlocks the door
