odd one: black pudding recipes for my own birthday?

y birthday is coming up and I want to make ourselves (just my DH and I) a nice meal this Saturday. I'll be putting decorations up this Saturday so thinking mulled wine, christmas movies, orange chocolate cake but what about the main? I wanted fish pie but DH is not fan of it. But then I thought i reaally love black pudding. Obsessed with it from childhood! but what could I make for dinner that would have black pudding in it???

any alternative cake suggestions are very welcome too :)

Bury folk have been known ti eat a whole one on its own with just mustard
You could have it as a starter .

@x2boys - I did think bout that! Me just cooking a big batch of black pudding for myself for the day with some nice prosecco! Out of all days I can certainly can do this without any excuses.. actually might go to check teh freezer how much black pudding we've got left 😁

Here's a recipe to something I used to make as a chef.

In my Huevos Rancheros, I use cubed potatoes instead of the beans. I also cube rather than slice the black pudding.

I’ve made a salad with apple slices fried in butter, fried black pudding, sauté potatoes and mixed leaves. Dressing made with olive oil, apple cider vinegar and a bit of mustard and honey. Very nice. You could add a soft boiled egg too to bulk it up.

Put beside a chicken breast, wrap the lot in bacon and bung in the oven, I like peppercorn sauce with it and a potato of your choice!

😂😂😂@RoseDog not to worry! I actually checked my freezer and have some very sad looking haggis that might use for it instead. Husband bought asparagus and potatoes. Might just make some nice sauce, prosecco, home made cake and all set for birthday haha

Another black pudding fan here!
A simple but very tasty dish I make with it ....
Cook pork chop or fillet to your liking, meanwhile chop some mushrooms and dice some black pudding, fry these with some chopped garlic, towards the end of cooking, add a good splash of red wine and stir well.
Serve the pork with the mushroom & black pudding mixture piled on top. This goes well with potatoes dauphinois or buttery mash with some wholegrain mustard swirled through it.

Was just going to suggest a pork filet stuffed with black pudding and wrapped in prosciutto. Delicious!

I bloody love black pudding. I got this from a cook book years ago but can't remember whose -

Haddock fillet, slice of black pudding on top, wrap in bacon, oven bake till done, then have it with mushy peas.

chicken breast stuffed with black pudding halloumi (sp?) and spinach wrapped in Parma ham cooked in a white white sauce.

Have black pudding for breakfast and have fish pie for dinner. It's your birthday so you should at least get to choose your own dinner.
